Alsager School has their first young carers afterschool session of the new school year on Monday 30th September. Please see the timetable for details.
A Young Carer is a person under 18 who provides or intends to provide care for a family member because of a disability, illness, mental health condition or substance misuse. They often take on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult. It is estimated that there are more than 700,000 Young Carers in the UK. Figures show that this translates to one in 12 high school students being Young Carers.
Here at Alsager School we know that Young Carers can experience particular challenges and demands that can impact their capacity to enjoy and achieve at school. We have School Champions that offer signposting and support internally and externally and if you or your child wants to access this please do let us know.
