Year 10 GCSE students excelled themselves in the regional heats of The Rotary Club Young Chef competition.
With a £20 budget and following healthy eating guidelines, the students had to plan, prepare, and cook a two-course meal for two people in 90 minutes. Three Rotarians from Ramsbottom Rotary Club, Trevor Hoyle, Roger Shepherd and Keith Crane judged the competition, that was very close as some fabulous food was prepared; including Garlic Prawn Orzo, Chicken Paella, Quiche Lorraine, Eton Mess and Fruit Tart with Crème Patisserie.
James and Emily were crowned winners and will go forward to represent the region in the district competition later this year.
Alan Smith from The Rotary Club of Alsager, who also had the pleasure of tasting the food, and congratulating all competitors, said: “I was so impressed with the quality of the food prepared and the ability of all the students to work to a timetable; I personally tasted some wonderful dishes”.
Congratulations to all who took part.
