Sporting Round Up (W/B 16th October)

Cheshire Cup – U13 Girls Football AWAY v Poynton

Unfortunately, due to conditions of the pitches and the weather the game got cancelled. This is due to be rearranged in the near future.

Cornovii Cup – Year 8 – 11 Football HOME v Brine Leas

Year 11 won 3 – 1. In the first half our Year 11 pupils struggled to adapt to the new conditions of the grass pitch, having been used to fantastic conditions of the brand new 3G pitch, that they were playing on and went 1 – 0 down. However, quickly got a goal back which raised their confidence and motivation levels and ended up 2 – 1 by half-time. The second half, our Year 11 pupils put Brine Leas under pressure and scored another goal to make it a 3 – 1 win.

Brine Leas forfeited against our Year 9 team. Giving Alsager 2 points towards the Cornovii Cup.

Unfortunately, Year 8 lost 4 – 1, and Year 10 lost 3 – 0, both matches were hard fought, but Brine Leas were the stronger team at the time.

Sporting Honours

Year 8

A huge well done to Bella B, who took part in an U15 Volleyball 4v4 regional grand prix before half-term. Her team had a huge success and came away with 1st place! Well done to you and your team Bella, this is great news! We wish your team all the best of luck in your next competition.

Well done to Jacob M who was recognised by Alsager Cricket Club at their annual award evening for the under 12s team and took the bowling award. Throughout the 2023 season, Jacob was the leading wicket taker in the entire league which is an excellent feet. Well done Jacob, this is great news.

Year 9

Well done to Amelie L who has recently been selected to play for Cheshire Hockey. This is excellent news Amelie, we wish you all the best for the season.

Year 10

Congratulations to James B who was selected for the central squad for U15s Sale Sharks Academy for the 23/24 season. James had a tough process before being selected, he was originally nominated for assessment by his club coaches, but then had to complete three assessment sessions before he was selected! This is the first step on the player development pathway, this will hopefully lead to becoming a professional rugby union player. Well done James, this is amazing news!

Congratulations to Phoebe S and Katie A who have been selected for to play for U16s Cheshire Rugby. This is a huge achievement, and we are very proud of Katie and Phoebe. They are excellent role models in school, especially within PE and it is great news to see that their hard work has paid off. Not only have they been selected for Cheshire Rugby, but this forms part of the England Rugby U16s development player program, which is excellent. Well done to you both!
