Sporting Round Up (W/B 16th October)
Cheshire Cup – U14 Girls Football AWAY v Winsford Academy.
The Year 8 and 9 girls on Tuesday played in the second round of the Cheshire Cup v Winsford Academy. It was a hard-fought match, with the girls playing a well-established team. During the first half the girls struggled to adapt to the 4G, having been used to playing on the grass – the girls worked well together to try and keep Winsford at bay, but unfortunately were 3 – 0 down at half-time. During the second half, the girls worked on their formation and maintained possession throughout the second half, as well as putting pressure on Winsford when they had the ball. Winsford managed to push through our well set defence twice in the last part of the second half making it 5 – 0 at full time.
Cheshire Cup – U13 Girls Football HOME v Poynton – Rearranged Fixture
A huge success for the U13 Alsager girls last night as we move on to the next round of the Cheshire cup!! After poor weather conditions last week, Thursday saw the U13 Girls play Poynton in a rearranged fixture. The team was out in full force and were determined to win; and they did exactly that! It was a fantastic game, with both sides working hard. The first half kept us on our toes with an early goal from Grace R being matched by Poynton to make it 1 – 1. Towards the end of the second half, Poynton managed to slip past our defence and score making it 2 – 1. The girls continued to work hard during the second half. Amelia F scored a cracking goal from the half-way line, that looped over the Poynton defence and into the net smoothly, making it 2 – 2. With only 5 minutes left of the match, it was a very tense end, the Alsager girls on the sidelines were preparing and planning on who would be making the penalties if it got to full time. Luckily, Grace R had a great run with the ball and a great shot on target making it 3 – 1 full time. Well done girls!
