EKG is an inclusive group where all students are welcome and encouraged to discuss topics and clarify misconceptions surrounding race. The group examines current issues and events, review books, films and TV shows and share and explore their points of view.
EKG promotes Empowerment – Knowledge – Understanding – Solidarity
Each year, Alsager school celebrates Black History Month across the curriculum and highlights all the outstanding achievements and contributions from people of colour. This promotes diversity, which helps to unite and connect us. In addition to this, the LRC displays a wide range of books by authors of different ethnic backgrounds.
Ethnicity matters,
Even as the crowd scatters.
It doesn’t matter how you look,
If you don’t understand, go and read a book.
LGBTQ may not be you,
However, you should always stay true.
There’s always a place at the table for you,
Please be respectful, of everything you do.
It doesn’t matter who you are,
No matter what, you’re a star.
