I would like to thank you all for your response to the late evening message we sent out regarding a positive Covid 19 case in Y8. On this occasion it was necessary to ask all of the year group to self-isolate today to allow me time this morning to liaise with PHE and Cheshire East before taking any action. This morning we have been able to elicit students who have had close contact with the affected child and will only need to ask those children to self-isolate. We will be contacting those parents/carers separately via email today.
We have had a number of cases within the school and for each case we have to take into account differing circumstances which impact on the decisions we make regarding whether a whole year group should self-isolate or whether we are able to refine the process so that only close contacts self-isolate.
I have worked very closely with PHE and Cheshire East this week and I want to reassure you that they have said the procedures that we have in place in school are effective. Whilst this provides reassurance, we know that Cheshire East is on high alert; Covid 19 is clearly in the community and I will do everything necessary to work with PHE and reduce the risk to our community.
