Last week we celebrated ‘Active Ally Week’ to support our school’s growing celebration of allyship to everyone.
Students and staff donned Rainbow Laces for the week to support the LGBT+ community in sports and be ‘active’ allies. The campaign has been running for several years and is supported by the Premier Football League and Rugby Football Union. The week culminated in a student vs staff badminton tournament to celebrate ‘Rainbow Laces Day’ and raise awareness for LGBT+ accessibility to sport. With over 40 participants it was a fantastic event.
Being an ally is about showing support to others no matter their background or differences to you and sport is a great way to get involved in being an ally.
