I’d like to thank you for your understanding and co-operation this week with the disruption due to the two strike days. Agreement appears to have been made for teachers in Scotland and Wales so I am hopeful that we can have a similar outcome in England.
Next week sees the return of the school show, Beauty and the Beast. It is three years since the last one; we had the show in the weeks running up to the first lockdown, which seems an eternity ago. We have an open rehearsal on Tuesday morning, which will be seen by all of our Y7 and performances on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening, doors open at 6pm for a 6:30pm start. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through Parent Pay.
In order to continue to improve our collaborative work with our parents and carers, we are working with a company with a view to achieving the Leading Parent Partnership Award. Parents/carers have the biggest influence on a child’s life and in school we see real impact when we work together. We sent out a link earlier this week asking for you to complete a survey so that we can evaluate our current provision. All responses and suggestions will be carefully considered and used to plan a range of school improvements. Please do find the time to complete the questionnaire.
We seem to be moving at a pace towards exam season. Our Y11 ands Y13 students have all completed an additional set of mock exams and can now really start to refine their revision, focusing on key areas. Attendance in lessons is paramount; it has a big impact on overall outcomes. Should your child be offered any additional sessions I urge them to make the most of this. Our after-school intervention provides bespoke support, and we are lucky to have such dedicated and committed staff. The exam period can be a stressful time for parents and carers; it is often difficult to know what support to give. If you are struggling, please do contact us and we can offer some advice.

We are also part of the ‘Ask for Jean’ initiative where we provide free sanitary products and ‘Jean Plus’ which provides packs of additional products such as shampoo, shower gel and toothpaste and brush. If you are passing, feel free to pop into our reception; the Civic Centre and Cedars are also part of the scheme.
Thank you to all parents and carers who have sent in some lovely comments following the recent parents’ evenings. We do seem to be living in an age where people are quick to criticise, so it is really heartwarming to read through messages.
