Good afternoon,
Our students are continuing to cope well with the transition back to school. Our Y11 and Y13 students have had assessments in preparation for the first assessment point and considering it is the first assessment in a very long time, they have coped admirably with the pressure. We have held assemblies with Y7 and Y8, in small groups, to remind them of our standards and expectations. When Y8 left in March they had only just got to grips with ‘The Alsager Way’, so it was good to be able to remind them about our culture and the need to be kind, respectful and to take responsibility for their learning and actions. I shared a quote with them: “When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that four of his fingers are pointing at himself.” (Louis Nizer). It is important to encourage all of our students to look at their behaviour before apportioning blame elsewhere. This is particularly challenging at the moment but is certainly something that, as adults, we should be doing.
I have not heard any more information regarding the changes around Lodge Road. I am hopeful that Cheshire East will let us know next week what their plans are. It has been good to see more students cycling to school. Bikes can be ridden to and from school but are not to be used at lunchtimes. It is the responsibility of parents/carers and students to ensure that the bikes are roadworthy. We also strongly advise the wearing of a helmet. If your child cycles to school please impress upon them the importance of road safety and the need to cycle sensibly, particularly as the dark nights start to draw in.
