Easter Holidays Update – 6th April 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

I hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. Given these unprecedented times we are in, it would be easy for us to forget that today is the first day of the Easter holidays – the days seem to be all merging into one at the moment! I would just like to remind you that because it is the Easter break from today (6/4/20), staff will not be setting work over the holiday period. Staff will recommence setting work for their classes on a daily basis as from 20/4/20.

School remains open over the entire Easter holiday for our emergency care for ‘key workers’ only and I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work and commitment both over the last few challenging weeks and over the upcoming Easter break. In addition, the national voucher scheme for Free School Meals is now up and running. If you have any questions about this please contact your child’s Head of College or e mail the school. Similarly, if you need to talk to someone over the Easter break or have any concerns or worries, again please don’t hesitate to contact the school. We remain here for you and your family.

Year 10 parents / carers and students only – following the announcement from Ofqual on 3/4/20 about how grades for GCSE and A level exams will be determined this summer for years 11 and 13, I am aware that year 10 were also due to take their RE GCSE this exam season. All schools are awaiting further clarification on early entry GCSEs from Ofqual and the Department for Education. So at present we do not have clear guidance on this issue for year 10 students. As soon as we get clarification, I will be in touch with you and year 10 regarding their GCSE RE exam..

Finally, I would like to thank all parents / carers, students, staff and governors for your support over recent weeks. These are clearly testing times for us all but if we continue to follow government guidelines and support each other as best we can, we will get through this together. I would like to wish everyone a pleasant Easter break and, given the circumstances, try and enjoy it as best you can.

Best wishes

Richard Middlebrook
