The Purcell Building

The ‘Purcell Building’ named after our popular Chair of Governors and former Deputy Headteacher.

We have named our new teaching block, which houses the 6th Form College and five classrooms, after Mr Lindsay Purcell who has a 40 year association with the school. The school has a long tradition of naming buildings after members of our community who have made notable, significant and special contributions to the school. The new ‘Purcell Building’ is a fitting tribute to Mr Purcell who has served the school over four decades as a teacher, Deputy Head and for the last few years as Chair of Governors.

Mr Purcell said “I am deeply honoured, humbled and delighted to have this fantastic new facility named after me. I joined Alsager School back in 1978 and have loved every minute of my time with the school. It is a really special place to study and work, full of delightful young people and dedicated, talented staff. It was an absolute pleasure to work here for 30 years and over recent years I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting the school as a member of the governing body.”

Mr Middlebrook, said, “I can think of no finer person for this fantastic new building to be named after. Lindsay’s passion, loyalty and commitment to Alsager School is quite exceptional. He is part of the fabric of the school and so it is fitting that we now have the ‘Purcell Building’. Lindsay cares passionately about this school and the people (past and present) who have worked and studied here. Everyone associated with Alsager respects him and I would personally like to thank Lindsay for everything he has done for our school.”
